Dr Herb Blumberg

Summary

He has been: twice a Visiting Scholar, Harvard University; Visiting Professor, Haverford College. He is: Bibliographer and Review Editor for Peace and Conflict, journal of the Peace Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association; membership secretary of the Conflict Research Society; and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, and the Society for the Study of Peace, Conflict and Violence.

Grants and Awards

Herb has received external grant funding from the National Institutes of Mental Health (USA; A. Paul Hare, principal investigator) and the Niwano Peace Foundation, the life-time honor member of IPS.

Research Interests

Herb has authored or co-authored over 50 articles in social psychology and research methods and co-authored/co-edited several books on non-violent conflict resolution (relating largely to peace and to civil rights) and on small groups. His earlier articles - for example, "On being liked more than you like", published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology - focused on social cognition. His interests gradually shifted to various topics in group dynamics and then to a combined focus on cognitive facets of social interaction.
